Meaningful coincidences

Synchronicity is a concept first explained by psychiatrist Carl Jung, which holds that events are “meaningful coincidences” if they occur with no causal relationship, yet seem to be meaningfully related. Jung’s belief was that, just as events may be connected by causality, they may also be connected by meaning.

The meaning of synchronicity seemed apt for my blog as there were many ‘signs’ or in my case dreams which tended to be premonitions and what I would describe as ‘gut’ instinct regarding certain situations where hindsight proved correct. They would seem random at the time but when I would look back and reflect on them, I could link them and they would all make sense.

These random coincidences would relate to family, loved ones and work. They wouldn’t make sense at times or I would link them to what I thought it related to until hindsight or reflection would provide the intended meaning. I think if we pay more attention to these seemingly random, but meaningful coincidences in our lives, we may understand the bigger picture and open our minds to greater possibilities – what do you think?
